The societal aspect of MBA education

The popular perception about MBA is that it is done with a purpose of landing handsome and high-paying jobs in multinational companies. In some ways, it is true also – MBAs happen to be more-paid and powerful as compared to professionals in other jobs. But, there is another dimension to MBA also, that is being socially responsible. Because MBAs have both the financial as well positional advantage, they have better scope for impacting society and its developmental needs. And, as they ‘charity begins at home’, this value of societal concerns must begin at B-Schools.
Given the hectic schedule of an MBA program, finding time and resource to inculcate social values may be bit difficult but not impossible. Most responsible B-Schools have taken to it naturally. They also have a separate wing to foster such values in students. The results of such value-education would surely be reflected in student-enrichment as well enhancement of respective institutes’ reputation in the business world. In fact, recruiting companies value moral, ethical and societal values as contributing factors to their companies’ goodwill. Therefore, this dimension of inculcating societal values in aspiring MBAs assumes greater significance than ever before.
International Institute of Business Studies-IIBS, apart from producing high-earning MBAs, has also given impetus to building values that would benefit companies in particular, and society at large. It all starts at its special wing for value education. Because of such initiative, IIBS has been able to produce business leaders of substance. Some of its alumni have greater impact not only on business front but also society at large. Now, is not there a purpose beyond the enticement of money and power?

Choosing the right Management Program for your MBA Degree

There are two different schools of thought about MBA studies: one that deems fit to be opting for an MBA soon after one’s graduation; the other opines that it is best to pursue an MBA parallel to one’s vocation. The former believes that it is good to feel the experience at an early age when you are still in academic mold and you are on the threshold of moving over to a professional sphere. Whereas the latter’s opinion is based on the ground that one gets to understand management education perspective being in a profession.
As an aspirant, you could be in a dilemma as to which school of thought to believe in.Obviously, you would need to consider pros and cons before taking a call. Each of the two options has its own merits and demerits. Of course, you have the choice of picking anyone of the two to meet your requirement. In view of these contrasting situations, here is a course of judgment to guide a prospective entrant to any kind of MBA: a regular, or an executive MBA program.
There is the traditional mode which suits most of the aspirants who have the zeal to continue a full-time MBA program. Here, you would certainly require lot of preparation like getting through CAT, MAT, or institute-specific entrance tests plus the ability to pay for incidental expenditure. Therefore, you may want to avail this path if you can arrange for these requirements.
Alternatively, you have the option of Executive MBA Program whilst doing your vocation. When you are financially well-off and have some sort of professional experience, an Executive MBA is the way to go. It gives you the freedom to study and obtain an MBA degree without affecting your work. There are many B-Schools that offer both regular as well as Executive Programs.International Institute of Business Studies-IIBS, having equally been adept at both forms of management education, could well be your choice for your MBA course.
